CULTUS LAKE UNITED CHURCH CAMP Summer Camp information brochures are available under the bulletin boards in the entranceway. THIS WEEK – SPRING CLEAN-UP & BREAKFAST:
Eagle Ridge’s Church Elves are taking on our gardens May 19^th. All of you are welcome to come on out and help us get the grounds into shape for the spring – weed, plant flowers, and clean up. We’ll also be doing spring cleaning and maintenance inside. There will be something for everyone to do, no matter how young (and supervised crafts and games for kids who get bored). Please join us for breakfast at 8 am, gardening about 9 am.

RAISE THE ROOF! Now that we’ve raised the roof we need to bury the bill! Our financing expired March 31^stso let’s come together and finish it off.

THE FAIR HAVEN UNITED CHURCH HOMES
Providing residential care and affordable housing to more than 350 seniors in Burnaby and Vancouver, Fair Haven has a long tradition of helping and serving those in need. Government funding along with resident and client fees only partially cover the services provided. You can make a difference! Your kind gift can help purchase therapeutic equipment, renovate aging facilities, fund programs or education. WHERE YOU END AND I BEGIN A Group about Boundaries This LIFE Group is about you and your boundaries. We will look at different types of boundaries. Do we have them? Why we need them; How do we get them and keep them all while feeling good about them; Where boundaries fit with home, work and God. We will look at values and goals, problem ownership, guilt, self care and boundaries in relationships. This group will run for 4 weeks: 7:00 – 9:00 pm Thursday evenings starting April 12, in Room 2, and requires a commitment for the 4 weeks. CALLING ALL SINGERS!
Anyone interested in joining the choir is invited to meet on Sunday mornings at 8:15 am in the church loft. This will be a time to practice the hymns for that Sunday as well as to prepare for future musical offerings. For more information contact Ruth Stebbing: 604-469-1577

PUT YOUR EMPTIES TO GOOD USE
A reminder that we have set up accounts at three local Return-it Depots. If you want to donate the value of your Christmas empties towards our church’s new roof, please drop them off at:

Coquitlam (2554 Barnet Highway): Please give them account number 221 before they start ringing it up
Port Coquitlam (2577 Kingsway): Give them Eagle Ridge United Church name. They will put it in their book.
Maple Ridge (2-22935 Lougheed Highway): Please give them account number 476, ERUC is the account name.

If you’d prefer, just bring the empties in and leave them in the church entranceway or with Shawn and Sue Hall and they’ll take care of it. The last bottle drive we ran in the fall raised more than $200 towards the roof – clearly, every nickel helps!

Adult Faith Formation – 2 events:

Spiritual Book Club: Made for Goodness written by Desmond Tutu and his daughter “invites us to take on the disciplines of goodness, the practices that are key to finding fulfillment, meaning and happiness for our lives.” Order your copy by April 10^th by signing up at the notice table at the back of the sanctuary. A visit to Westminster Abbey in Mission & dinner: Sunday, May 6^thThe Sunday Vespers (Evening Prayer) is at 4:30 pm, and lasts roughly 45 minutes. People should plan to arrive at 4:10 pm so they can park and take a tour of the grounds and church for a few minutes. Boston Pizza will be at roughly 5:45 pm. The Prayer Shawl Ministry LifeGroup meets once a week on Monday evenings to knit or crochet prayer shawls for those where a need has been identified. Check with the Office for the specifics of the location or contact Laura at callthewind93@gmail.com.

THRIFTY FOODS SMILE CARD FUNDRAISER
Load up your Thrifty’s Smile Card to have 5% of your purchases donated by Thrifty Foods towards replacing our leaky roof. Load the card at the cash register or customer service beforeyou put your groceries through. All usual methods of payment can be used to load the card, including using a gift card. If you shop at Thrifty’s and don’t already have a Smile Card you can pick one up from Anne at the office. If you currently have a Smile Card from our last project you can keep using the same one.

Who can worship?

Anyone is welcome to participate in worship. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t been since you were a child, or if this is your first opportunity to explore the Christian faith. Nor should you feel embarrassed or somehow unworthy. It is a new day and you are already a beloved child of God.

What is worship?

Worship is what forms us a distinct community. It is a time when we gather together to give praise to God and to be equipped to go back out as followers of Jesus who make a difference in the world. In part, worship is also the time when we practice living in the kingdom of God (what the world would be like if God were in charge) including putting God into the centre of our lives.

Where do I sit in the worship?

Anywhere you like – really! We value hospitality here and there are no “reserved” seats. It is true that folks tend to sit in the same places week after week, but no one’s nose is going to get out of joint if you happen to sit in their favourite spot. In fact, they will be glad that you have taken the risk of coming to church and more than likely warmly welcome you.

Depending on what time you arrive, you will likely hear music playing, or if you are really early, you might catch the choir rehearsing. Feel free to sit and relax, wander around and check out the rest of the building, or talk with others. It is up to you.

Praise hymn sing
We open our worship time right at 10:00 with the singing of 2 or 3 short hymns of praise. These are most often led by the choir and/or the youth. Please join in.
